Take a pause to assess how life is going and what matters

Occasionally, we need to pause and reflect on what is happening in our lives. If for no other reason other than self-awareness. It will lead us to seek our best interests and direction.

As a career professional in my 30s, I learned the hard lesson of not prioritizing myself and my well-being. I had transitioned to the corporate world from higher education and loved what I was doing, but it took its toll.

Even since then, I learned to make my wellness — physically and mentally a priority. We have one body, one mind, and you need to be healthy for optimum creativity and innovation.

Some workplaces and organizations are not astute enough to understand your productivity is changing with your wellness is not at full capacity. As we know, you are replaceable, and your workplace may give you space or a bit of grace.

Still, most organizations do not have the patience to appreciate the complexities of employee wellness. The next profit target or project plan will not wait for your well-being.

Your family, loved ones, and inner circle of friends can and will support you if you become replaceable by choice or otherwise
